How long does your RBS training take?

Most people finish our California RBS training in a couple hours. You can log out and come back anytime - your progress is saved automatically. Work at your own pace and at the best times for you.

What does your RBS training cost?

$13.60 (15% off - regular price $16). The ABC charges a separate $3 exam fee when you register for your Server ID on their RBS Portal. No hidden fees!

What is a RBS certification? Do I really need one?

A RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certification is a training program required by California law for anyone who serves alcohol. And yes, you really need one! Since 2022, any person who sells or serves alcohol in California must have a RBS certification

What do I need to do to take your training course and receive my RBS certification?

In order to receive your RBS certification, you must first register as an alcohol server on the ABC RBS Portal website here. You will:

  1. Create an Account. (This includes creating a username and password, entering your full legal name and email, and paying the $3 exam fee.)

  2. After creating an account, you are given a Server ID number. (You will use this number when you sign up to take our training.)

  3. Then sign up for our training course here. Enter your full legal name, email, and your ABC Server ID number so we can notify the ABC when you successfully complete our training. To prevent errors or delays, please enter your info exactly as it appears in your RBS Portal. You will also enter your credit card information to pay for the course. Your credit card is securely processed via Stripe or PayPal. 

  4. Once you complete our training, we'll notify the ABC. Within 24 hours (usually right away) the "Take Exam" button will activate in your RBS Portal account on the ABC website. Just log into your RBS Portal account and take the official state RBS certification exam.

  5. The ABC's RBS Alcohol Server Certification Exam has 50 questions and must be passed with a score of 70% or better.

  6. Important: The ABC Alcohol Server Certification exam must be taken within 30 days of completing our training.

How long is the RBS certification good for?

California RBS certifications are valid for 3 years. Before it expires, you'll need to complete the RBS training again and retake the ABC's RBS Alcohol Server Certification Exam. 

Can I serve alcohol anywhere in California with this certification?

Yes - RBS certification is valid statewide. Once you pass the ABC exam, you're authorized to serve alcohol throughout California, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Sacramento. Some cities or counties may have additional local requirements, so check with your employer to confirm.

Does California RBS Training expire?

Yes, your RBS certification is valid for 3 years from the date you pass the ABC exam. You'll need to complete training and retake the exam before your expiration date to stay certified.

I finished my training but can't access my certification exam in the RBS Portal.

We may be having difficulty confirming your training with the ABC due to: 1) a typo or spelling error when you registered, OR 2) your identification details you gave us don't match what the ABC has on file. Please check your email including your spam folder for a notification from us!
